Betty Joel of Knightsbridge (Token Works) (1894 to 1985): A 1920s Art and Crafts furniture Maker founded by Betty Joel [Elizabeth Mary Stewart Lockart]. Joel inherited the ethos of the English Arts and Crafts Movement, but added the manufacturing standards and techniques from boatbuilding. By 1937 she was the most revered name in bespoke furniture in England with a high class showroom in Knightsbridge. Clients included well known show business and professional names and Royalty
