About W. A. S. 'William Arthur Smith' Benson

W. A. S. 'William Arthur Smith' Benson (1854 to 1924): W. A. S. Benson made high class metalware for table use and for oil, gas and electric lighting fittings. He was closely associated with William Morris and the Arts and Crafts Movement. Benson products were retailed through Morris & Co. for interior designers and he also had his own shop in Bond Street, London for some time

The Arts and Crafts Movement produced some of the most remarkable furniture of the twentieth century. Many of its principal designers were architects motivated by principles of functional and beautiful design, high class workmanship, and quality of materials.
